Kistha Haus is more than a household name around here. It’s incorporated in what we do day in & day out. It’s through Olivia & Zach that those principles are manifested everyday with all our guest, along with the rest of our pack. They give of their best & uttermost every day. All that we ask of them & nothing less. The characteristics that are woven in their DNA is because of their sound & true breeding. A breeding that takes place with no short cuts, & a standard that is thought out, maintained through every breeding. For breeders like herself breeding is not an afterthought but one of sound judgement & careful planning, & evaluation. Let me say there are many breeders that fit that description & many that I call friends & would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. For us, our paths were destined with a certain dog that came into our lives many years ago when our hearts were crushed & bruised. The girl that came busting out of the crate as a puppy, not only changed our lives but it also developed a lasting friendship with Kim & Kistha Haus. The spirit of the pack is one of balance & strength. It’s one of sound temperament & solid nerves. It’s being able to adapt in any environment & help those overcome their insecurities, not only by the tone they you set but most importantly their spirit. When you do what we do on a daily basis with the number of dogs it’s all about pack structure & the dynamic of the pack. And within that dynamic, you have to have dogs with confidence & clear heads. A clear understanding of the role they play within the boundaries. No one does it better than the Olivia, the matriarch, the leader of the pack. Along side her is Zach, who’s role is different but with the same mission & purpose at the end of the day. The Kistha Haus stamp as we like to call it. Being an ethical and responsible breeder doesn’t come on a whim. When you’ve been in this profession, as long as we have you come across too many, what I like to call impulse breeders. Passion never enters the equation, only a way of making a fast buck, so they think! Doing any testing to improve the breed never enters their minds. Passion…there lies the secret because if you’re passionate about something you will work your ass off to be the best. The blood sweat and tears, trials, tribulations, & the heartaches, that don’t deter you or sway you from the end goal. In this case it’s producing sound, confident, stable, balanced puppies that will go into any homes & give their best & their uttermost. Thankful for all the GSD breeders that do it right. You know who you are! Shout out to all of you!!Especially thankful for Kim Haegely. Many homes throughout the country that are blessed to have Kistha Haus apart of their families. Just think Kim, how many lives have been touched because of these wonderful, special, soulful dogs that your spirit was a part of. For us, it’s Olivia & Zach. They are our faithful companions; they are the heartbeat & Soul of Bones & most of all they are a part of our family. We could not imagine our home being without a Kistha Haus. Shotzi was my first dog in 3 years after having at least one dog my whole life. I knew I wanted a German Shepherd but until I saw a dog from a previous litter I never knew Eastern German Shepherds were a thing. Fast forward a little over a year later and my sweetheart(Shotzi in German) is just over 9 months old and I couldn’t be happier.
From the drive, to the intelligence, to the temperament, I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Shotzi and the rest of the von Kistha Haus pups I’ve met. These dogs can do anything with enough time and training, I wholeheartedly believe that. Not only did I get an amazing dog but I joined an amazing family in the von Kistha Haus Family. Kim’s passion/knowledge for the breed and genuine concern/care for them really is what made my choice, you can’t put a price on that.

Anyone can be a breeder, but it takes more to be a responsible, respected breeder that cares about every puppy in every litter and every adult dog. Kim Haegely follows the puppies that leave for their forever homes. She will welcome back any dog that can no longer be cared for and/or any that are in an abusive situation. She tried, and finally got back an adult female that was in an extremely bad situation even knowing that her days were numbered. Kim nursed, cared for and loved that dog as her own until she passed. THAT’S LOVE; THAT’S DEDICATION; THAT’S PUTTING THE ANIMAL FIRST.
Journey (Journey Vom Kistha Haus), sable male German Shepherd, will be 4 years old on August 12. He was a single puppy (he WAS the J litter) born to Rye and Venous. We are so blessed to have him be a part of our family. He’s been so easy to train and house break, and he was a fantastic nanny to our newest addition, Qiyara. He weighs 100 pounds and very “ball driven”.
Qiyara (Qiyara Vom Kistha Haus), solid black German Shepherd, will be 2 years old on July 11. She is from the “Q” litter, born to Rye and Anny. She is slightly smaller than Journey with a high ball drive also. She goes everywhere with it in her mouth. She also loves sleeping in her crate. She’s a natural guard dog, barking and wary of anyone coming in that she doesn’t know. We could not be more proud of both of our German Shepherds
Kim doesn’t toot her own horn; she doesn’t feel comfortable with “testimonials” because that’s not what she’s all about, but she is “family” and deserves credit for who she is and what she does. She’s given up a lot of luxuries to do what she does because it’s her passion and she loves it.
I just want to say these dogs love with their whole heart and that’s because of the way Kim starts her puppies. These dogs and puppies are her children; they love to learn, they love to please. She starts them out in the right direction with her guidance.
Kim is a forever friend, we are all family, and would do anything for her and her dogs.

I feel more like part of Kim’s family than a client. Kim is not simply someone I bought my dog from. She is so much more.
Kim has integrity and is a responsible breeder. Her love for what she does shines through each pup. She stays committed to each one and delights in watching them grow.

Kim is not just an excellent German Shepherd Breeder, she is a matchmaker. My husband and I have always owned German Shepherds and as we grew our family and had young children, we wanted to make sure we had a dog that had a solid temperament and not just bred for color or size like other places we looked at. We found Kim by luck and she came highly recommended. We talked to Kim and she had the perfect pup for us, she was as committed as we were to finding the perfect match for our family. This pup became the heart and soul of our family as he turned into this magnificent, handsome, loyal and kind companion. He grew up with our kids, protecting them and teaching them what it is like to care deeply for your companion. We could not have dreamed up a better family dog.
As the years went on, I followed Kim’s every litter and I am not exaggerating when I say we all become part of the Kistha Haus family. Kim provided me with answers and advice any time I needed input and I watched so many of her pups become blessings to other families as well. She is such a conscientious breeder and she strives to better the breed, her dogs go on to become family members and working dogs. We would never get another pup or dog from anyone other than Kim. She cares deeply about every pup she has for as long as they live. She even tells you that if for any reason you can’t keep your pup, that you return it to her. We had provisions for our beloved Kip to go back to Kim if anything happened to us because we knew he would have the best life with her if we were to not be around. We lost our bestest boy this year and while he can’t ever be replaced, we will be getting a new family member from Kim and we know he/she will be another treasure. I am not exaggerating when I say Kim is the best.

Obart “Bart” from the O litter was chosen for us by Kim. I wanted a well balanced dog that could work and be a life long companion. I told Kim I wanted a GSD who would work for me in AKC and UKC Breed, Obedience, Rally and Agility. Bart exceeded our expectations. Bart has excelled in everthing we have asked of him. His devotion as a family pet has been like no other GSD we have owned. His ability to live with a pack of Dachshunds and a sighthound has proven his stable temperament. His work ethics are the best! Working is play to him. At age 11, he is still very fit and loves to go through his OB routines and play a little ball… I cannot say enough about Kim and her breeding program. Kim’s keen eye on each and everyone of her pups she places is a testimonial of a true educated, caring and knowledgeable breeder.. I learned about Kim through Johnny Gomez when I asked who was the best breeder of German Shepherds. I got Reacher from Kim in 2017 and I agree that Kim is the best. I feel like family and not just someone that bought a puppy. Kim answered so many questions for me over the years. Reacher is perfect to me. He is healthy, has the right amount of drive, is super smart, and the best temperment that you could ask for. He is really our best friend. Kim is a great breeder in my eyes as she is so good with her dogs. She cares for them deeply, they are her family and not just for breeding. Her dogs all get along and the puppies are well socialized and enriched by many things as they grow up. I have never known a more caring breeder. Kim is also amazing at making sure she only breeds dogs with excellent health and proper joint standards. If you ever cannot care for one of her dogs, she will take them back unconditionally and make sure they have a proper home with someone else or they stay with her until they do. Not many in the business is that caring of their dogs. We absolutely love Kim and would never buy one from someone else. I would drive cross country to get one of hers!!
